Is everything handmade?Yes! All Equinox Glass products are handmade by Alison Slaff Carl in her home studio in New Jersey, USA.

What is fused glass?Glass fusing is a form of glass art where different pieces of glass are melted together (fused) at high heat in a glass kiln. Each piece of glass is hand cut using a scoring tool, running pliers, and a grozer tool. Once the design is completed, the piece is moved to a glass fusing kiln where it will stay for the next 12-18 hours to heat and cool slowly, reaching a max temperature of around 1500 degrees Fahrenheit.

How long have you been doing this?Alison has been working in fused glass since 2007.

How did you learn how to make fused glass?Alison first learned the basics of glass fusing when she began working as an instructor for Glassworks Studio in Morristown, New Jersey.

Do you make custom art?Yes! Cozy Rooms are the most popular Equinox Glass custom item, but the artist is open to discussing other ideas.

How can I order a custom piece?Custom Cozy Rooms can be ordered here. All other custom work inquires can be made through the contact page. .

How long is the turnaround for a custom Cozy Room?Custom Cozy Rooms are made in the order in which they are received. Currently they can take up to 6 weeks to ship.

How many pets can you fit in a Cozy Room?While there isn't a hard and fast rule, the more pets that are included, the less room there is for other details. Generally around 4 larger pets (cats or dogs) is a comfortable maximum. Some pieces may be able to accommodate additional smaller pets (bird, turtle).
